Hi all, has anyone had any treatments following a heart attack? I have been looking into possibly reiki, reflexology or something else but I don’t know if they are safe after a heart attack.

rehabilitation

What are seeking to gain from these treatments ? I take physical exercise , swimming , running , cycling , yoga and physical work round our small holding and love being back after having nstemi and quadruple bypass July 2023. No problems from my regime.
Hope you have been offered cardiac rehab program which will gradually increase your exercise tolerance in a controlled environment?
Good morning aardvark I started rehabilitation this week, I have 7 more left yo do, I wasn’t sure if I should have started them until the MRI results were back
The cardio rehab team should have had your medical records to hand and should therefore have been well placed to decide whether it was appropriate for you to start your rehab course. And since they have apparently passed you fit enough to attend, I would presume that you are OK. But you can always discuss this at your next rehab meeting and perhaps ask them to chase up the MRI.
My Cardiac Rehab nurse is a better source of advice than the GP and a lot easier to contact.
See if a long-term Cardiac Rehab class is available in your area. As well as supervised exercise being reassuring, access to a medical professional is priceless in these times when GPs are so difficult to contact.
Hi,
I did the rehab from the hospital after my heart attack and open heart surgery. I found a rehab class at my local gym after my heart attack which I’m still going to 2 and a half years later. At 51 I’m the youngest in the class, but we exercise, laugh, and support each other. Really recommend seeing if you can find a class in your area, but recently I put my back out and was told by my doctor no massage or chiropractor as it can drop your heart rate and blood pressure. But everyone is different so best to check before you book anything. Xx
