back ache : hi guys it’s 8 weeks since... - British Heart Fou...
back ache
Which medication are you taking? Back ache could be a side effect of many medications , but it could also be because you've had to be less mobile than usual ( especially if you already used to have a back problem or you have osteoarthritis).
It can also be caused by radiating pain from acid reflux , indigestion or a change in bowel movements.
But back ache can also be a symptom of ongoing chest or heart related issues , so if it has been bothering you for more than a few days you do need to request to urgently see your GP for a face to face appointment or at least speak to them or the cardiac unit you were treated at in a phone appointment to let them know and ask if you need further blood or ECG tests.
Hope things improve soon. Take care , Bee
Hi thank you I take ramipril, bisoprolol,Atorvastatin, aspirin ,lansolrazol
Those are all the usual meds . As you don't take Clopidogrel (for blood clots) I assume that as yet you haven't had any surgery or stents and are awaiting the MRI results before further treatment.
Worth checking with your GP or the cardiac dept you were taken to as those results are important and they often wend their way out very slowly. Either way its important you mention your backache to one of those medical bodies.
Hi I had terrible back pain when on Atorvastatin. I was told by GP to stop it & see what occurred. It stopped a few weeks later . Put me back on it & it returned. I've gone thru a fair few statins & been intolerant to them all sadly. I'd suggest speaking to the GP to swap to another etc.
Hi Daisy thank you that’s reassuring I’m going to see my GP on Friday.
Can I ask did you have a heart attack?
I have been experiencing this too - I am now 9 months post heart attack. I was worried it was my heart, as my heart attack was mainly pain in my back not my chest. In the mean time I had a gastroscopy and found I had a weak valve at the top of my stomach. I now take ANOTHER medication, omeprazole, and I don’t get the back ache any more. But worth checking with your cardiologist?
Hi thank you for your reply that’s interesting, I’m already taking lansaprozole which I believe is the same as Omerprazole but I am going to see my Dr this week
