Spaced out on propranolol

Hi my 18 year old daughter about 8 weeks ago got sudden vertigo and a fast heartbeat, about 4 weeks ago she was put on sertraline, prochlorperazine for the vertigo and 10mg propranolol which then increased to 40mg as it wasn't doing much. Today she took them all as normal first thing (sertraline just in the morning others are 3 times a day) about an hour into work when they kicked in she became spaced out and was unable to focus and concentrate all day and felt very very relaxed, certainly not worried at all. Later in the day unable to keep awake and went to bed quite early. Am wondering if it's the propranolol and if lowering the dose back down to 10mg will make her a bit more awake, obviously appreciate she can't just stop taking them. She did message Dr for advice saying she was very drowsy and all he said was come and see me in January and in the meantime don't drive, so I'm presuming from that he's not overly worried about the drowsiness, which is more than can be said for me! Thank you x

Have you read the side effects ? Sounds like a common thing . I had similar with 3.75mg of bisoprolol. You could contact the online BHF nurses ,you can call or have an online chat . They will be able to give you more detail/advice. Your pharmacist should also be able to give you advice too while you wait for the GP appointment.

have you considered it could be the Sertraline as this is an antidepressant, possibly the dose of this is to high for your daughter especially if she isn’t really depressed. I would ask a pharmacist for advice.

Yes I did wonder about that and as an antidepressant takes a few weeks to build up, it could explain why it's only just hit just now, thank you for your reply x
