radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging

Two weeks ago I went in for (radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging) because I've been having regular heart pains from going to the gym for the last few months. Made it through the test and I was waiting to hear back with the results. I didn't hear back from the doctor instead I was sent another appointment date for....Radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging ( only a scan) appointment was made quite quickly. Just wondering if they found something in the first scan I am a bit worried especially because I can't get a hold of anybody doctors here in Finland....quite busy times for them.

For the record I had a heart attack back in 2022 with one stent fitted.

Sorry for ranting I'm probably just worrying about nothing and thank you for listening!

Your doctor may order a stress myocardial perfusion scan for:

Chest pain, either new onset or occurring over a period of days or longer

To diagnose coronary artery disease (CAD), which is the narrowing of the coronary arteries

After a heart attack (myocardial infarction, or MI) to assess heart muscle damage

To assess blood flow to areas of the heart muscle after coronary artery bypass surgery, angioplasty, or stent placement.

Seems to make sense based on your history that you have been referred for one.

Thanks for your reply,... what's puzzling me is why they've ordered two of them within 30 days 😬

Could be the imaging quality on the first one was crap. Just have to wait and see what the second one says. Not doom and gloom just yet. Whatvever the reason they clearly don't feel they have enough information to form a diagnosis otherwise this would have been communicated to you.

With the myocardial perfusion scan you can frequently have two, stress and rest. Mine were 1 week apart, stress first and rest the next week.Took 6 months to obtain the results, still not sure they have told me all the findings, the info I was given consisted only of my ejection fraction in both tests.

Interesting, .let's see how long it must wait for the results over here in Finland .Thanks for your reply 😁
