I hope all goes well tomorrow. I had an atrial flutter ablation last Sept and am now waiting for an atrial fib ablation hopefully soon. From what I remember, you're advised to restrict any exercise, lifting, etc. for the first week. So your travel arrangements depend on what baggage you're carrying, how much walking and standing you'll need to do. From what I understand, the main risk is causing bleeding at the puncture site in the femoral vein which would cause a lot of problems. However, the fact that you're staying in overnight rather than home the same day should help with this.
Yes , that is fine , definatly avoid any stress or strain so taxi and train sounds fine . After mine , I got a cab all the way home ,but I do live in London, so its wasn't too expensive . Do take things slow for a bit , give yourself time to heal , its tempting to overdo it afterwards seeing no physical evidence of a procedure and feeling relief and hope. I just had some big bruising . Its amazing what they do . Even more amazing that to the Medics, it's just a routine procedure.Good Luck .
The main concern after ablation is bleeding at the groin. You can’t lift more than 10lbs for a week. I personally would not risk public transport unless someone was travelling with me and could help with bags etc.
An attempt was made to go up my right leg which failed so my left leg was used.
Consultant is really pleased and continues to be optimistic that my health can be what it was before all this started end of September.
I'm so pleased to be in Sinus Rhythm.
I've been on this forum a relatively short time but really appreciate the help advice given. It's been a dark couple of months but hopefully there will be light at the end x
The consultant was happy for me to get taxi and train. Although I hadn't booked the passenger assistance at Paddington was first class, they provided a buggy and wheelchair to get me on train and even arranged a wheelchair at the other end.
