I was diagnosed with myocarditis in October after being admitted into hospital with heart attack symptoms, after have multiple tests and a 5 night stay in hospital I was diagnosed with this, but I havnt been told much about it apart from it was very severe that it has scarred my actual heart. I'm still having abit of chest pains and shortness of breath, but now I've come down with a cold/flu and I'm scared it's going to get worse and I'm going to end up back in hospital

Hi, sorry to hear that happened to you. I totally understand where you're coming as I went through basically the exact same thing ! I had heart attack symptoms then when I went to hospital I was kept there for around 5 days, and the final diagnosis was myocarditis. Do you know what your troponin (tp) levels where by any chance?

You'll probably still have pain and some shortness of the breath, however this should soon begin to reduce once you've started your medication.

Feel free to seek help if you feel your symptoms such as shortness of breath and chest pain have become worse.

There is a beneficial page on the British Heart foundation website about myocarditis and it's causes. Simply type in myocarditis on their website.

Likewise they have an option to contact a cardiac nurse for free, you can speak with them and ask questions, I've personally found them to be very helpful. No matter how small or dumb you think the question is, ask.

Hope that helps. Rest, your heart is going to need as much rest as it can get.

Thank you for commenting

They were 141 but my heart rate was through the roof too, but a week before this all happened I had a traumatic family event so slot of other symptoms they wasn't sure if it was because of my heart of because of that event

I am trying hopefully everything will start easing soon x

Sorry to hear that, I hope all your affairs settle down for you. Hopefully the docs find out exactly what the causes are.

In the meantime rest, and try to reduce your stress levels as much as humanly possibly.

All the best

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Myocarditis is scary and very few doctors have a true understanding of the disease. I found a really good book that helped me. It’s about someone who got myocarditis out of the blue and it’s the story of what happened to her. It has lots of tips on how to recover too. Made a real difference to me and was reassuring. It’s called The Unexpected by Kayte Alexander. I think it’s only available now on her website. My best wishes to you.
