Hi, A friend who's taking the blood thinner Clopidogrel is having difficulty in sourcing the couple of brands that suit her best & give least side effects. Her supplies are running low & family can't locate the ones she needs locally.

Appreciate I need to find out which brands these are, but meanwhile wondering if anyone else is having these difficulties with this medication please?

Many thanks...

The best solution is to go round all her local pharmacies and find out what their supply chain situation is like. But if your friend is unable to obtain a specific brand that suits her in her locality then she needs to go back to her GP to discuss what alternatives there are. Clopidogrel is one of a group of anti-platelet meds , and others are available, including low dose aspirin, which is what I and many others take.

Thank you for your help. Is it a case with prescriptions that you can take them wherever you wish or do you have to stay within certain distance please? Many thanks.

It is my understanding you can take prescription anywhere, although I am not sure about taking a prescription from one of the UK 'home countries' to another for it to be fulfilled. Others may be able to confirm on that.

The brands of my regular medicines, including Clopidogrel, change from month to month.

Thank you. She's tried various ones, but only 2 brands suit her, the rest give her bad heads...
