Anyone else had a second opinion

I had a heart attack in August and a stent fitted. After a few days in hospital they allowed me to go home. Today I was due to start my rehabilitation but I received a phone call off my specialist who has just replaced my old specialist to say he wants me back in hospital on the 2nd Dec. Apparently after looking at my scans the other side of my heart where they said was mild heart disease is now severe and looks like I need more stents.

I’m worried as I’ve been increasing my exercise weekly. The only scans his looked at are the ones from when I had the heart attack. This was a real bolt out of the blue. I only contacted them because I went to do the fitness test to get my HGV licence back.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? And how long after dec2nd if they fit more stents would it take for me to do my fitness test.

hi,

Hope you are doing well. I can understand your concern and tbh - it is weird that there is such divergence on the scan results. I would probably probe them and ask how this was missed earlier? Were they looking at correct scan? Definitely get a second opinion - I would have no confidence otherwise.

Best of luck!

Sounds like an excellent team and they are monitoring and reconsidering your case.

My HA was around the same time as yours, how are your doing?

for me they called me back a month later after heart attack and 3 cardiac arrests as they thought they might stent left side of my heart but after reviewing with an investigative angio decided it was ok for now.

You are in a job where they consultant cardiologists need to guarantee your cardiac fitness for your safety and other road users. I am wondering if in the future you may consider a less stressful job?

Do you have any heart failure. The decided at first my heart function was 50% and now after stress echo its estimated at 40% - heart failure.

Best of luck going forward

Michele

If you have started your hospital cardio rehab there should be staff in attendance who are qualified to advise you what do if you explain what has happened and who will have access to your hospital records. Failing that you could have a chat with the BHF Heart Helpline nurse.

Yeah was due to start today but cancelled now. We had a gd chat with cardio rehab team, my wife was in on the call as my head was pickled. I just wanted to see if other people had same experiences and how long after a stent fitted they did their fitness test
