Really rough time with heart issue like pain

I had really bad pain, (chest, left arm), was sweating, nausea just all the shit. So with anxiety in full swing, straight to hospital I went.

ECG normal, troponin was 8ng/L they said it’s perfectly normal and it’d be much higher in a heart event however the pain didn’t go so I went back last night and same tests Trop now is 3ng/L, docs like there is no damage, proceeds to go through my whole history being 23, overweight but no other risks. Also a negative CTCA 6 months ago. So now home, still in pain despite pain relief. Just don’t know what even to do. I’m thinking unstable angina but apparently that’d at least show something on the tests and the fact there is no plaque but my brain ay.

What do I do?

Have you considered a spinal issue. I used to get abdominal pain and it was coming from my lower spine! Just a thought.

You know I haven’t really with heart issues being ruled out if seems logical to investigate. Thank you for the suggestion

Yeah I’ve read into spasms before, yeah seems a plausible thing. It’s just spasms seem to have like no know cause so found that weird. I’m glad you found answers, I’ll definitely have a conversation about it when I can get an appointment 😂

Hello,

I recall that you have posted on many occasions about your ongoing symptoms of chest pain.

Previously you have said you have thyroid problems, are over weight and your CT angiogram results suggest you have a myocardial bridge?

I am sorry you are still no further forward.

I acknowledge how difficult it can be living with angina.

I live with severe coronary vasospasms, vasospastic angina which doesn't respond well to medication. I am admitted to hospital about twice a year to have treatment to stabilise my coronary vasospasms.

I live with frequent episodes of chestpain which are increasing at the moment as the weather gets colder.

The cold, emotional, mental and physical stress are the triggers of my coronary vasospasms.

However, I know why I have my symptoms following the appropriate testing.

Stress and anxiety amplifies or turns up the volume of my pain and angina symptoms. I saw a Clinical Psychologist who helped me to emotionally cope better.

I also find Tai Chi, yoga, breathing and relaxation techniques helpful.

I use this free app, it has lots of stratergies to help manage stress and anxiety.

Perhaps ask your GP to refer you to a Pain Management Service?

Have you been able to see a Cardiologist who understands myocardial bridges?

Myocardial bridges can cause angina non obstructive coronary arteries ANOCA.

MBs can be associated with coronary vasospasms too.

There is a specialist in London who you maybe already aware about?

Maybe give the BHF helpline a call and speak with one of the cardiac nurses who are very knowledgeable?

You can speak on the phone, by email or chat service

I have contacted a specialist in London yesterday explaining my history and my tests done. Hoping I can get a telephone appointment soon and maybe trial some medications to see if I can get some relief.

Issue is the bridge can be the issue, causing the issue of just be a separate thing entirely, it’s hard to test reactions due to reluctance to do further testing with the amount of radiation I’ve had but maybe CMRI might be a good idea.

in the meantime. Is there anything in your diet and exercise routine that you can improve? If you feel that YOU are in charge, with a good diet and sufficient exercise, that should make things easier for you.

By “exercise” I don’t mean going to the gym unless of course that’s your choice. Walking a bit fast is just so,good, for you and so easy!

Despite my weight I’m quite a tennis player so I enjoy that and cycling, the diet is the main mixed bag as it has good periods then bad. It’s annoying my thyroid is still impacting my weight.

Rather not as I think it’ll probably drive my anxiety a bit too far. But yeah I have read about severe cases that cause them which is crazy to me but I also read most the severe ones are caused by stimulant abuse.

Gonna ask my doc about it.

Hi Dshadzz,

Sorry to hear you’re still struggling with these symptoms. I know I have previously commented on your posts about the possibility of coronary artery spasms, and a few others have also mentioned it to you on this thread therefore, I won’t repeat it.

I’ve just had a thought as to whether you have ever been investigated for GI issues? Although I have coronary artery spasms; I was recently diagnosed with oesophagitis (Grade B) which explains the spasms I’ve been having in my oesophagus and can be incredibly painful, mimicking heart attack like symptoms.

Would it be worth having a chat with your GP to possibly rule out anything going on GI wise?

All the best.

I do actually take omeprazole to help with reflux, my endoscopy was ok though but they said I had higher levels of acid. I actually think my recent symptoms may have been caused my an accidental Benadryl overdose as it dries out the oesophagus normally anyways and I believe it started to cause pain there and maybe spasm like feelings. Just a theory.
