I take all the usual meds including Verapamil, Isosorbide Mononitate, Nicorandil, Ranolazine and Esomeprazole .

I have suddenly got a very dry mouth and get very tired. Has this happened to anyone else? Would be very grateful for your comments.

Thank you. 😀

this is worth a chat with your pharmacist - either your dispensing one or, if your doctor’s group of surgeries employs one, that person.

Hello,

I am on a slightly different cocktail of medications to help manage my vasospastic angina.

Diltiazem, nicorandil, Isosorbide mononitrate tablets and patches, clopidogrel, rosuvastatin, lansoprazole and oxygen overnight.

I do get a dry mouth especially if I have been breathing through my mouth when I am sleeping. I feel more tired when I sleep open mouthed.

I have discussed sleep apnoea with my GP, however I decided I didn't want any further investigations.

I try to drink plenty of water which helps. Tiredness is something I increasingly feel now the cooler weather has arrived, as I am more symptomatic.

Maybe worth discussing your dry mouth further with your GP or Cardiologist?

Many of the medications we're taking list a dry mouth as a side effect.

Hi,

Thanks very much for your reply - very helpful. It is comforting to know that it is likely to be side effects. Like you I would rather not have any further investigations. The medication I have has certainly helped. Hope you are keeping well and thanks again,

Hi,

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling with meds. I have been taking Verapamil, Nicorandil, Isosorbide, Ranolazine and a statin for sometime. I think I initially got a headache when first starting Isorbide but it settled after a couple of weeks. I take 100mg in the morning. The verapamil was OK as far as I remember (I have been taking this for 15 plus years). I had a slight issue when increasing it to 720mg a day. Again headaches and tiredness but this has resolved by splitting dose to 480mg in morning and 240mg at night.

How long have you been taking them? You may want to contact your GP/Cardiologist to see if they can alter dose to suit you or suggest an alternative.

Hope things improve for you. My quality of life has certainly improved for the better thanks to these meds and also cutting back on stress.

Take care,
