Hi Holidayescape,

I use Staysure every time I travel. They continue to use the old term “prinzmetal angina”. Vasospastic is the current or modern term and they have not updated their system with this. You will be covered for Vasospastic angina under prinzmetal angina. If you remove the angina diagnosis and replace it with this, you should be fine.

All the best.

I use the old term Prinzmetal Angina which is on their system.

Are you flying? If so, I suggest you check with your Cardiologist how long you can fly for.

My Cardiologist has advised me that I can take short haul flights of no longer than 6 hours.

I have to use oxygen during the flight as the air pressure changes triggers my coronary vasospasms.

I have to get a fit to fly letter from my GP before being allowed to fly.

I take all my medication with me in my hand luggage. I take extra just incase of delays. Also a copy of my repeat prescriptions.

I carry a copy of my careplan giving my diagnosis and my angiogram with acetylcholine report.

I book assisted travel, wear a sunflower landyard and will ask to go straight through security and passport control.

I can't stand for long periods or again I'll get chest pain.

I drink lots of water during the flight and wear flight socks.

I rest when I arrive.

Enjoy your holiday!

Hi Milkfairy, thank you for your reply. I will phone again tomorrow morning and say Prinzmetal angina. I was told there was no restrictions on where I can travel to. I was just not to stress the logistics lol. I have a fit to fly letter from my Cardiologist but no idea what to do with it. I am waiting on copies of my last cardiac mri and other reports that the cardiologist who did the mri said he would email to me. The cardiologist who gave me the fit to fly also wrote that the travel insurance companies can contact him for any further information. I will take all the information that I have regarding my condition with me. I always wear flight socks and drink plenty water. Hopefully I can get this insurance sorted tomorrow. I am covered but I would rather have my diagnosis on it not just heart attack and angina.

Thank you again for your advice.

Just take your fit to fly letter with all your other information and documents. I flew to Madrid in April and I am off to Sicily in September.

I just remembered I put my TENS machine on which helped with my chestpain during the flight.

I make a list of what I need to take with me too.

I did enjoy Madrid, but it was very tiring.I was invited to attend a summit about women and heart disease. The organisation paid for my husband to accompany me as I can't travel alone.

We then stayed for a few days afterwards.

I got to go to the Prado for the first time.

I have never been to Madrid. I am glad you enjoyed it. I hope you enjoyed the summit. You have a wealth of knowledge on this condition. I can't thank you enough for all the information you share. The MINOCA study has now finished. The cardiologist at the Golden Jubilee seemed pleased with the results. He has offered me a acetylcholine angiogram, I have said I would have one if he thought it would be helpful. I am still waiting on copies of mri, angiogram and other reports from him.

Sometimes I feel as if my brain is full of all the things I have been told lol.

Hopefully I will get this insurance sorted tomorrow and I can look forward to going to Greece in 3 weeks time. Fingers crossed.

I hope you don't have to wait to long for your angiogram with acetylcholine. I was so relieved to have my diagnosis confirmed in 2014 following my functional angiogram.

I hope you have a lovely holiday. I was nervous travelling at first but it is worth all the extra preparation and effort.

Morning, I have my travel insurance sorted. Thank goodness.I have not been told if I am going to get that angiogram done. I have been told that the other angiogram plus the cardiac mri scans that I definitely have a diagnosis of Vasospastic angina.

I love to travel and I am hoping it all goes well and I will want to do it again.

Thank you.

Hope you have a lovely holiday. I'm looking forward to the time when I feel confident enough to fly again myself.
