heart attack on Monday (age 56 female) and a bit lost
Firstly let me say how sorry that l am that you had to go through such a traumatic life event l know how your feeling. And although the hospitals do try their best to take care of patients there is measures that are missing 😕 🤔 😐 😳.
It can leave you feeling scared in our days when taking a trip to the hospital because you Don know what to expect.
What kind of care you will be giving
And after care.
It's like if though the government in office are making very bad decisions about are nhs.
I hope people will never stop fighting for what belongs to the British people.
But yea waiting for out patients appointment is unerving.
But mostly it's just a routine follow up.
Check up.
So don't be scare love hope your doing well.
I suggest you speak with the BHF Heart Helpline nurse if you have any questions about your medical situation. Although you won't have a print out of your ECG you should have a summary of what was found during your stay in hospital on your discharge notes. Next most people are offered cardio rehab a few weeks after their heart 'event' organised by the hospital where you will be assessed for progress by a dedicated medical team, able to ask questions, and join others for several sessions of exercise and guidance to help you on the way forward. If you have not been told about that, contact the cardio department medical secretary at the hospital to find out if you will be offered a place, noting that sadly not all hospitals offer this. In the meantime you would be well advised to look through the BHF webpages for lifestyle tips including diet, exercise, body weight management, alcohol and smoking all designed to reduce your heart health risk. Finally if you have any problems concerning side effects from the meds you will now be taking noting that there will be a bedding in period of a couple of weeks, talk to your GP, or otherwise a pharmacist. Otherwise I hope your recovery goes well.
hello
Know exactly how you feel and also had loose stools / diorhea / I’m 3 months past the event. Much better now. Had to be careful with roughage for a bit.
But you will have to check in with your GP regarding meds etc. they will want to see you in person. There maybe adjustments over the coming weeks.
The heart function of 50% is good I understand as mines the same. Cardio rehab team will make an appointment in a few weeks. You’ve not been abandoned, meanwhile check in here / find out where you cardio club is? That is a regular group meet for people who’ve been through heart trouble / really good for mental health. But anything that feels wrong don’t hesitate to get it checked at A&E?
Best wishes
Michèle
Hi there, I’m about 3 weeks on from you, and definitely felt the same when I was discharged from hospital. I’ve since called the BHF helpline twice, pushed my GP into giving me an appointment within the 2 weeks that hospital had said, and had some follow-up from the Cardiac Rehabilitation team. It seems I’ve had to be proactive to get some support, but in my experience, if you figure out who to contact, you can get it. My medicines have been reviewed and adjusted, and I am starting to feel a bit less lost. The BHF cardiac helpline was great in helping me understand the medical reports. And when the sun shines, I don’t feel too bad at all 🙂
