My wife has just had a pacemaker fitted because of Tachybrady Syndrome following a 14 day monitor, I have never heard of this condition does anyone have any experience of this they could share with us
She had it fitted a few days ago and apart from feeling stiff and sore her symptoms have improved already improved, she has to restrict her movements on her left hand side to protect the insertion scar which limits her quite a lot.
We now have a monitor which connects to the pacemaker next to the bed which then connects to the hospital by mobile signal, miracles of modern electronics!

Hi, yes I had Tachy-Brady Syndrome and was fitted with an emergency Pacemaker last year. It’s when your heart rate goes from one extreme to another. For years I had suffered Atrial Fibrillation after an Aortic Valve replacement. Pacemaker is sore for a couple of months or so but now I don’t even know it’s there. It’s solved my heart rate issues , too!
yes I had this and was fitted with a CRT-D pacemaker resynchronisation defibrillator a year ago. The electrical system wasn’t working properly. I had 34,000 extra ectopic beats and now just the occasional few. They are very pleased with my progress. It has taken a year to feel so much better but did have relief soon after having it fitted. The worst bit is waiting for it to heal and it’s difficult getting dressed and not moving your arm. I can walk 10,000 steps or more and up slight hills now. Once it has healed she will see the benefits of having it. Hope she goes on ok. All the best x
Glad to hear your wife is diagnosed and being treated.
I have brady tachy syndrome and a Medtronic PPM. But the PPM currently deals only with the bradycardia, and meds keep the tachycardia under control. But the meds are causing balance, low BP and dizziness probs and so my next step next week is to have my AV Node ablated. Then the PPM will control all my heart beats, not just the brady part.
None of the procedures I’ve had so far (2 atrial ablations as well) have caused any probs or any real pain. I hope your wife’s treatment is equally benign. Cheers to you both.
Hi, just had pacemaker fitted 2 days ago, bruised, & sore. Can I ask about monitor, I mention a monitor & they said they are quit expensive, how do you feel since having it fitted.
If you are in the UK the monitor is provided by the NHS, it is connected to your Pacemaker by Bluetooth and the monitor is connected to your operating hospital by Mobile signal. You have to connect to the monitor at first as instructed with the unit, after that just keep it plugged in. If any problems are detected with your Pacemaker or your heart the hospital will phone you on the number you have given them. We have my wifes 6 week check up next week so we will probably find out more then.
In the brady tachy syndrome you have dysfunction of the SA node which is our natural pacemaker. A permanent pacemaker in place allows you to take meds that prevent the tachycardia without slowing the heart to very slow rates as the permanent pacemaker will kick in appropriately.
