Hi OH had a heart attack in December and had stents fitted. His prescription slip says he is due a medication review this month. Yesterday he had a telephone appointment with his GP (which the surgery instigated, so he didn't know what it was for, but neither did the GP seem to know why he was calling!!) Anyway he said he was due medication review, GP pretty much said medication looked fine and they would take him off the shopkeepers soon. No mention made of any blood tests etc. Is this right?

Is your husband discharged from the hospital back to the care of the GP? If so it is down to the GP to decide what care measures are necessary, including medication, tests etc. If he is is still under the care of the hospital those measures may be different. Certainly since my NSTEMI several years ago the only blood tests I have are annual cholesterol, liver function, kidney, and Hb1Ac tests.
What a medication review is that a doctor or pharmacist attached to your surgery looks at the medication you are on and decides if it is OK to carry on or not. In the 12 years since my heart attack this has only involved talking to me once.
