Hi everyone, I have fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis as well heart disease. I had a balloon angioplasty in 2022 after an angina attack. Prior to this I took small doses of diclofenac to help with the chronic pain however my GP said I cannot have it because of heart disease. I tried other anti-inflammatory drugs but they are no where near as effective..my question is does anyone take them? For a better standard of life is it worth the risk? I am on statins 20mg, aspirin, eztimbe and Candesarten and 2.5mg bisoprolol. Your thoughts would be helpful, thank you!

Thought that Diclofenac had been removed from pharmacies now, used to use it for chronic back pain but now can't get it, even on prescription.

Dicolfenic acid is available as a gel in pharmacies without a prescription. I have diclofenic gel on my repeat prescription.

Hello,

My GP prescribed Diclofenic gel instead of the tablets for me.

Perhaps ask your GP if they can do this for you?

Hi, I'm in my 70s and have osteoarthritis, so GP said definitely no to Declofenac, tried Dihydrocodeine for a while but didn't like side effects and it was causing gallbladder pain, I also have gallstones. Eventually tried Amitriptyline small dose 20mg and it has really helped reduce the pain, especially on a night time, sometimes the pain in my hands and feet would wake me and keep me awake but the Amitriptyline has had a positive effect, been taking it for about two years. Hope you find some respite.

I also have fibromyalgia osteoarthritis and had stents in my 95% blocked arteries 5weeks ago. The only pain relief I’ve been advised to take is paracetamol I used to have naproxen on repeat which is also a NAIDS. Im still having angina and breathlessness and I have a lot of pain in my bones and muscles having said that I won’t be taking any drugs that could put my heart recovery at risk.
