In about 40 mins my partner will be having surgery to replace his aortic root and valve. This is the third replacement of his aortic valve and I am scared beyond belief. He is in Barts hospital, one of the best but the risks are so much higher for a third op. Its going to take over 6 hours, what a long day its going to be, I am a complete wreck and not slept a wink. Needing lots of support from this wonderful comnunity.

Lindalittlebear, pretty soon you will have all the the thoughts, prayers and best wishes from the wonderful group…..I send mine to you with very big hugs! 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Vrouse, sending you and your partner so many hugs and well wishes. We are all supporting you from afar! I will also be going in for open heart surgery in the very near future to replace my aortic root and aortic valve, but only for a second time. I am 41. I am currently just finishing up most of the pre op tests in order to get an official grame plan sorted out. I truly hope you have some supports to lean on during this incredibly stressful time! That is a lot to endure, 3 of those very intense open heart surgeries, as is the recovery period. My thoughts are with you both!
sending lots of best wishes 😘
Hi V, I hope it went well yesterday.
May I ask in the past the OHS were for the same reason or different . Just want to understand the reason for 3 surgeries . Thanks and speedy recovery for your partner
It’s such a stressful time, I’ve recently had a new MHV at Bart’s and they are so good there, but nothings going to make you feel better until it’s done I know. Make sure you eat and drink today and I hope you have someone you can talk to if you need the support while waiting, but there are so many lovely kind people on here that will be around for an online chat if not.
Sending you both positive vibes fof today, take care of yourself 😊
By now the op will be over. I hope all is well and your partner makes a swift recovery.
Hope all has gone for your partner. Sending love & best wishes to you both ❤️ xx
best wishes to you both. I hope it’s gone well and you got some sleep last night. Sending hugs x
Wishing you both all the best, hoping things have gone well. Please keep us posted.
I may possibly be in your position soon as my husband potentially faces a third open heart on his aortic so I totally understand how your feeling, my husband is also under Barts.
Hello Vrouse thinking of you in this very difficult time praying for your partner to have the best possible outcome. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Best wishes to you both and please keep us updated. Take care 🙏❤️🤗😊X

I so hope it goes well for him. You have got me worried though..I had an op for an ascending aorta a couple of years ago..everything seems to be fine but I didn't know that people had to have them done a few times!??
Sorry to cause you to worry, its the valve that's been done before. First time for root replacement.
hope you are feeling OK, I'm sorry to hear you've had to have 3 OHS, I'm waiting for the same op I'm 67 didn't realise the valve had to be changed so many times, have there been probproblems
that the valve wasn't right. I'm hoping for repair or resilia valve, don't think I could go through the OHS so many times.
He had a chest infection which the GP would not prescribe strong antibiotics for. He got sepsis as a result but the infection went to his valve hence the need for the replacement again
I am sure the whole community here are wishing, hoping and praying for both of you. 🙏🙏
Sending love and hugs. He’s in good hands 🙏
I’m sure he will be fine I’m not n my 5th or 6th replacement unfortunately if your an active person they don’t last as long as they should
I’m currently on a tissue valve but I’ve had a mechanical
