angina
do you mean “straight away after discharge “ or “after several years”? If you mean after several years then yes, and maybe another stent or possibly more.
If you mean straight after discharge then you’ll need to get in touch with your cardiac team. Have you had cardiac rehab? They would go through this with you.
You might find it helpful to read the full story on the NHS website. Go to the NHS app if you have one, or to NHC Choices website if you haven’t, and I put “stent”.
Yes you can. I had 3 stents after my HA. I kept getting very painful arms. I had a coronary angiogram to check that nothing had been missed. All was ok. Was put on Isosorbide. Which has helped, but even now 4 years later if I over excert myself I can still get angina so I use my spray.❤
Hi, Ladycate,
My husband (in 2006–We are now divorced.) had six stents placed during one week. He had three placed one day—then had a rest break of one day in hospital (due to the effects of the dye)—then had three more stents placed the following day.
He sometimes had angina pain during his recovery period up to at least one year. He always carried a few nitroglycerin pills in case the pain bothered him too much. This was in 2006 in the US. His doctor prescribed the pills instead of a spray.
BTW, he turned out okay. His heart is still doing fine in 2024.
Simple answer, yes. I had angina severals weeks after my stents!
After my stents I went through cardiac rehab, then onto phased back to work (working full-time) over 2 month period. I even went abroad for holiday. Returned from holiday and around November time, had tummy problems and angina (really confusing) and started using GTN spray daily, this lasted for 4 weeks until I got short stay in hospital with several tests.
Got started on Bisoprolol and just now feeling settled! I have a delayed cardiology appointment coming up soon; I am dredding the winter months.
