My af attacks are infrequent and short but pretty nasty. I go to bed if I can until it passes.

Have you tried breathing exercises- breathing in through nose and slowly out through mouth slowly as this concentrates the mind,it helped with me

I presume you have had your AF properly assessed and any causative factors dealt with (hypertension, thyroid disease etc)? And you are on treatment to prevent stroke and control the AF? In addition to what previous people have said, it's worthwhile checking you haven't triggering factors like smoking, xs alcohol, caffeine, sleep disturbance, eating large meals... If the AF is frequent, causes any other symptoms, or increasing, be sure to go back to your doctor

In addition to the above by nextadventure, I would say no alcohol -even a little bit can cause AF in susceptible patients - me included

Hi, I have been in constant AF previously. I found lying on a bed & relaxation exercises ( breathing) to help. I never had alcohol & tuned my diet ect but found getting rid of stress helped me a lot. Good luck 🤞

I have PAF so when my heart goes crackers I sit and do my pre natal breathing and relax and it's over . It effects my breathing so I breath deeply through my nose and slowly breath out. But it works for me .

Breath control also works for me. Slow it down. Sometimes a physical workout -- light weight training or a brisk walk -- can also derail it for a bit.

As for alcohol avoidance, not an issue for me, I have not noticed a connection, thankfully, because I do enjoy an occasional drink. You will have to make that connection for yourself based on how you feel. Play with it.

As others here have said, this is a "mongrel" condition -- all of us are mostly different.

My current pattern: totally OK for about a month and then "stricken" for anywhere from two to four days.

I just today finished a four-day episode, which started precisely one month after the last one.

It helps me to remind myself that regardless of how panicked my body is telling me that I feel, I am in no actual danger. I try to take the role of an impartial observer. I detach, as best I can.

I hope that my experience helps you. Welcome to the club we never wanted to join, haha.

Recently I was diagnosed with AF and put onto Bisoprolol to control it. I always felt that I had it and thought it was harmless, a flutter here and there was all I had but it became more of an issue after my HA and stents!
