My consultant put me on digoxin tabs so I'm taking 2 different ones now. Seems to have worked for me. Going for stop start of the heart Tuesday. Your consultant should be seeing you again so let him know x

To be honest with you I’m not under a heart consultant . I was called in for a routine heart scan in June for medication purposes for another health condition . An X-ray picked up an enlarged heart which turned into AF and high blood pressure . The heart scan was done and an ECG was done too . I was given a prescription for Bisoprolol and went on my way.

My GP continues to prescribe the drug .

Let me know how your procedure goes on Tuesday .

Just to say that the 'irregular heartbeat' messages on the BP machines are not always accurate.

I was regularly getting that message every few days, so discussed it with my GP. On her advice I bought a alivecor.com.

This allows me to do an EKG very simply on the spot whenever I feel my heart is not in rhythm. It has totally proven that the BP machine is not correct. If I take my BP and get that message, I immediately do a trace. The Kardia always shows me that my heartbeat is normal.

I also use the Kardia when getting Palpitations or Ectopics. It is reassuring to know whether these are anything to be concerned about.

I can honestly say that this little piece of equipment has enormously reduced my anxiety about my heart and gives me the confidence to get on with living life to the full.

Hi Carokai

Thanks for your message .

How annoying companies can sell these machines .

I’ll check out your link

Thank you xx.

I have AF but I don't even think about it, just get on with my life.

Good for you , glad it doesn’t hinder your life . Or scare you when your heart races . Your medicated correctly I guess

I don't worry about it because I came on this site and find so many people with AF, I play bridge at competition level and many of the players have AF too.

My HB jumps about all over the place, I pick it up on the gym monitors....But I'm still alive, when I mention it to my doctor, she askes what I do about it and I say nothing what can I do.

Take care

I’m not fearful of my life ending by any means . That doesn’t concern me it’s the symptoms I have that are not pleasant which is quite frightening . Obviously there not normal otherwise someone in here would have mentioned they feel the same .

If you can tolerate your AF symptoms, then just get on with your life (assuming you are taking an anticoagulant also). Although I am not medically qualified, My understanding is that AF isn’t a dangerous condition but it can be very disconcerting . Any treatment is only to improve your quality of life. Bisoprolol is a beta-blocker, generally prescribed to lower your heart rate and blood pressure. It is not an antiarrhythmic.

A Kardia can be useful but not to be recommended if you’re a worrier, or you’ll never put it down.

Hi Ian

Just a small point are you sure you are correct in " Beta Blockers are Not an Anti arrhythmic " Just that my understanding is that Bisoprolol helps control Heart Beats as well as slowing the heart down !!

Although I'm not medically qualified, my understanding is that Bisoprolol is generally prescribed to lower heart rate and blood pressure. I believe that other medications (e.g. Flecainide, Amiodarone, etc) are generally prescribed to address rhythm disturbances.

That’s good to know thanks 😊
