I had a quad and was an inpatient and found what with all the tests and monitoring that i didn't really have time to worry.

As an out patient you are out of sight out of mind to some extent so might be worth reminding them or asking to go on a cancellation list.

The op itself was no problem but you need to prepare for when you come out, normally after 4 days or so.

Glad to hear you are okay doing better than I did took me about 4 days to be able to write anything on my phone that wasn't a complete jumble of nonsense 🤣 I hope you continue to improve at a steady pace but don't panic if you have a low day seems to happen to most of us and remember we are all here if you need reassurance 😊

Great news, well done for posting so soon. May your recovery continue to go well and please keep posting. My husband's CABG is coming up in October and hearing how it is from the horse's mouth is invaluable. With every good wish for a good recovery.

The waiting, as everyone on here says, is the worst. So sorry you had a cancellation so awful to prepare yourself and then nothing. I hope you get a date soon. Every good wish for your journey and let us know how you get on.

I am glad they did not cancel you and got it done and a little bleeding and low BP can be normal sometimes and does happen but they will sort that out otherwise you sound like you are doing really well :-)

wife day 1

Sister day 2-5

Question - do i need a higher chair? Our sofa is low…..

Glad to hear it went well.

We put extra cushions on our sofa as it was too low for my partner when he came home a few weeks ago. We also put a footstool there so he could elevate his legs. It was all a bit ‘Heath Robinson’ so it wasn’t ideal but he managed. Another thing we hadn’t thought about was the toilet seat, which was too low. I bought a higher one that sort of clipped onto the existing seat. Thankfully we’ve been able to remove it now!

Best wishes.

I am Guinness World Record holder as longest surviving triple heart bypass patient.Op age 31 now 78. Don’t know your age I was young and my problem was caught before I had any heart attack.Remember worrying about those first intrepid steps from the house down the road.At the time of my op mobile phones nowhere to be seen so really out on a limb.

Initially couldn’t urinate caused by shock of op told to listen to running water thank goodness that worked.Got a leg infection but that cleared up.

A Canadian nurse gave me a shave sorry to say not a great job, made me these days hunt down every facial hair. Also I’d gone in a month earlier all set pre med given and op cancelled as my rare blood B Rhesus Negative sent to Scotland for a lady in a road accident. My late great brother picked me up I was gaga thought I’d had my op.That delay helped as I could see how competent the whole process was.

Suffice to say at 78 very active it’s more my knees and legs slowing me down these days but doing things I had to give up at 31.Play Walking Football play a little golf and ride bikes. Thanks to the NHS seen my daughters grow up and grandchildren to.

MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT SAVED ME WAS MY DR A MR SNYDER INSISTING ON AN EXERCISE ECG AFTER A RESTING ONE SHOWED ALL WAS OK.

Amazing, Bigscar. Very encouraging.

I had to do my own shave, it was pretty tricky getting it all!

I am 67 - so on the older side.

Good to hear. Take it easy but do try to walk a little to stop muscle weakening. It can be very frustrating, but the more you move, the quicker everything heals. Eat a little often. Soft foods are better to help avoiding coughing. I remember I was on tuna flakes, milkshakes, soft bread egg sandwiches, chicken and rice. That was 14 yrs ago. All the best for a great recovery. Listen to your body. When you're tired, you must rest and do more the next day instead! 🙂

Great to see you doing so well keep it up.

The most important thing you need is a cushion to pull tight into your chest, I bet that coughing killed you. I had my quad 2 years ago and even now if I sneeze my sternum still hurts.

The mental side of just how bigger op this was and how close to death you were will kick in at some point, don’t try and hide it let it all out and talk about it. It’s important.
