I’m seeing conflicting information about the history of CABG. Really all I want know I guess is how old a procedure is it. Seems like it can’t bd attributed to the work of 1 surgeon.

Research was going on in the early 1950s but the first successful CABG in humans is generally regarded as being May 2nd, 1960. So it’s been around for the better part of 60 years. Somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 CABG procedures are performed each your in the UK (it’s somewhere around 500,000 per annum in the US) - it is a remarkably common procedure.

The first CABG was preformed in the 1960's in the Soviet Union by

Dr Vasillii Kolesov. It was down played by the Western World.
