I have mild heart failure ef 49 I have been struggling in this warmer weather, I can sit in side start to feel warm then I sweat on my forehead it runs into my eyes and I go very red , hr 70/77. if I do any exertion my hair gets soaked, I am concerned I am building up to having a heart attack at times or is this normal with heart meds ? I can cool down when sat in front of a fan after 5 mins hr goes down to 65 appreciate your thoughts

I love the sunshine and being outdoors....in fact I love it that much we had a second home in Spain for 17 years.

After my heart attack three years ago I found that for the first three or four months I couldn't cope with the hot days here in the UK.....they just sapped all my energy, like you I felt very sweaty and I just felt unwell....I was looking forward to Winter!!

The following year I'm pleased to say I was back to normal in terms of enjoying the sunshine and hot weather with no adverse effects.

your heart has to work harder when you are hot, this is because it acts like the pump in a heating or cooling system and has to do more work in extreme temperature to keep the inside of your body at a steady temperature

so try avoid taking on too much activity in hot weather and wrap up warmly in cold weather to help your heart

Excessive sweating does seem to be a common problem with HF even in winter but worse in the summer. I belong to a HF support group & so many people suffer in the same way. A lot of them swear by those fans that you wear around your neck to keep you cool. Are you under a HF nurse? It may be worth mentioning it to your medical team.

That's exactly how I am. I only ever sweat on my forehead and neck; absolutely nowhere else. I can wak up feeling as if I'm burning up, my pillow soaked and sweat running down my face .

I seem ok at night, it’s just when outside when it’s hot, I’m normally in the shade, doing housework I get hot & sweat so just keep resting by the fan , I can ride my electric bike no problem even in hot weather but if I had to stop for traffic in the sun that’s it ! Thanks for your reply

I have regurgitation on three heart valves but none at a serious stage, yet I sweat excessively now. My hair becomes soaked on exercising too as do my clothes. (My hairdresser commented on it after I had walked there.) I have no blood pressure problems and am only in late fifties. Before heat didn't really bother me. Agree it is concerning when water pours out of you! But you are not alone.
