Recently saw post which suggested a possible side effect of Tamsulosin ie Flomax could be AF? Anyone have any evidence of this..been taking it for twenty years!Medics suggested AF could have possibly caused HF or the other way round..Sorry for posting twice ..couldn’t work out how to post to two at same time..

I'm not a medic but I think that Tamsulosin was a contributory factor in my AF becoming permanent. It's hard now to be precise about it but I think I had occasional, undiagnosed episodes of AF before starting Tamsulosin - I just felt a bit 'off' for a while. After starting Tamsulosin, my AF was diagnosed and became permanent.

This, of course, might have happened anyway so it's hardly conclusive.

I found this from Pubmed in 2022. Just a single case report of a chap who developed AF with rapid ventricular rate, after starting Tamsulosin 48 hours previously.

It starts as below but I couldn’t see a way of posting the whole thing here. You should be able to find

“Herein we describe a case of atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response in a male patient who started on tamsulosin two days”
