Ablation for AF Today

I have been reading this forum for around a year now, and thought I would post today for the first time to contribute.

Since being diagnosed with AF over a year ago, life has changed considerably. Not knowing I had AF, just thinking I was just ‘super unfit’ when trying to tend the allotment and sweating profusely when doing physically active tasks. It was picked up by my GP when I paid him a visit for another reason.

The biggest change I have experienced is the side effects of the drugs (Bisoprolol 7.5mg, Ramipiril 2.5mg, Edoxaban 60mg) to manage my AF. Tiredness and lethargy being the main ones.

Following 2 failed cardioversions, and then almost 9 months waiting for this day to come, I have a mixture of fear and excitement for the future. Not sure what to expect.

I will update this post as the following days pass for anyone interested.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Hope it all goes smoothly today. As said you will need to take it easy afterwards for a few weeks. You will also be unable to drive for a few days. I have attached a link for the BHF's booklet (also downloadable) on AF below:-

Thanks MichaelJH

Incredible is the NHS. To see the theatre with at least 8 specialists and as for the equipment, amazing!

My procedure took 6 hours and I am back on Sinus with a steady 74npm 🙂

Did you have sedation or a general? If sedation what state of consciousness were you in?
