Calm Down, Check Your BP

England don't make it easy for themselves! It is stressful for those watching and as they went into extra time I thought Slovakia had it in the bag. Amazing goal by Bellingham to keep England in the game. Please don't make is so hard on us next time Mr Southgate and Mr Kane.

Meanwhile if you can take more stress watch the submarines!

Hello :-)

You are right that was stressful and I thought we were out to till that goal at the last minute

I won't take my BP as I have a feeling it could have gone up I need to calm down first and as far as watching anything else stressful I think that is all the excitement I can take in one day :-)

I take it you might be watching the submarines and if so I hope you enjoy it :-) x

Me too, I've got some England flags around my house and on the car! Some of the house ones inside had been ripped down

I don't know if I can watch the next match

Hello :-)

I thought about you actually as I was watching the match and just hoped to not see a post you were in the Hospital so relieved to see your reply instead :-)

I know I feel the same after this one and the way I was feeling I am wondering myself if it is wise I watch the next one as Michael said and made me remember when I was in Hospital with one of my heart attacks asking the Rehab Nurses if they find they get more people having heart attacks at certain times of the year and they did mention football !

Glad you survived last night and glad to see you on here :-) x

Valentina98 profile image
Valentina98 in reply toBeKind28-

I did make sure I took so deep breaths at certain times during the match and I walked out the room a couple of times, when I got so frustrated with how England were playing

BeKind28- profile image
BeKind28- in reply toValentina98

Hello :-)

I just sat saying we were rubbish while feeling my heart going faster and wondering why I was putting myself through this when I knew it was not doing me any good :-) x

Had an MI nearly 9 weeks ago and just watched England. Chest was painful and BP went from normal 95/66 to 118/74. Had to walk out 2nd half of extra time. Don’t think I’ll watch the next game. Hopefully will ease off as still a bit painful 😬

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply toBarolo22

I am sure the BHF issued a warning about getting over stressed watching football during one tournament!

Please ring 111 if you have any worries or 999 if the pain gets more severe or you become breathless!

Hello :-)

This could turn out to be an interesting post as to if when we are under stress if it makes any difference to our BP and how we feel in general

I am so sorry it had this affect on you but as  MichaelJH has said if you are in doubt phone 111

Think it is a good idea you don't watch the next match :-) x

I think this is enough stress and excitement for one day don’t you? Brilliant goal by our Kane. The match got better as it went on, so have to give our boys credit this time. I’ll give the submarines a miss thanks, it will take the rest of the evening for me to calm down. I was on the edge of my seat. X

Turned over to F1 Highlights at full time (no time for pointless pundits). That was edge of seat as well!

Yes Crashtappen is back! 😖 FIA need new rules. I watched F1 and then England and my heart was thumping! But what a great day for sport

Actually whist posted in a lighthearted vein it is serious. Over the past twenty years the NHS have reported peaks in heart attacks during critical England World Cup and Euro games.

I am not so sure.

Emotional stress is a common trigger for episodes of angina.

Stentsandrun profile image
Stentsandrun in reply toMilkfairy

Next time you get a bit worked up over something on the TV (Question time usually a good trigger) try taking your BP, it's a bit of an eye opener!

Stentsandrun profile image

Your BP I meant not question time.

Milkfairy profile image
MilkfairyHeart Star in reply toStentsandrun

My Cardiologist is slightly obsessed with my BP and heart rate.

I had to monitor my BP and heartrate for month and it was interesting to see the results.

I can't take beta blockers as they make my vasospastic angina worse.

I am going to have to sit on my mat and develop a zen like calm to get through watching the football 🧘‍♀️

I was spared the stress of the European World Cup of Soccer Ball … swapped for another stress , our contractor started baling our hay at 18:00 Sunday evening 🤦🏼. Started to get it off the fields. Much nicer 🤣

I was at my son's house for the match. He has the Euro app and so got notifications of key things in the game ahead of the delayed BBC HD coverage via his smart TV.

I asked him to turn them off ahead of kick off, but he didn't. All I can say is he tried to contain his emotions, and said nothing about the game....but he should never ever play poker!!!

And of course it is also the British GP at Silverstone. Hope it is not decided by a racing incident like yesterday...

Oooooh! Those pesky football matches. I’m a huge footy fan and watched the first half at my son’s house (BBQ) went home to watch second half and I’m sure it has a effect on blood pressure, ( naturally I suppose). When I feel the need to shout at the TV and give them all my advice 😅😅 my ectopic load increases and I have to do the deep breathing. Goodness knows how we’re all going to feel at the next match?? So good luck England and also good luck to all of us who are going to put ourselves through it again! ⚽️🏆 😅😅

I don’t think l dare watch the next match. I have AF today! I must get a grip and keep it together LOL!!!

Yes your right. They certainly got out of jail last night with a late goal. Let's hope they have learnt their lesson. Brian

dunestar profile image
dunestar in reply toBingo88

I'm not convinced they will have - learned their lesson, that is. The full backs always mess around passing the ball across the pitch to each other when it's fed out from Pickford. Watching Spain immediately after England their full backs always play a forward ball to give the team forward momentum.

Bingo88 profile image
Bingo88 in reply todunestar

Yes your right. They are not forward thinking enough. The mistakes started when he played Trent in midfield instead of wing back. That was a crazy decision. Players know their best position. And he had midfield players in the squad. Brian

Valentina98 profile image
Valentina98 in reply toBingo88

I was screaming at the TV about them passing backwards! I'd be interested to know how many passes Pickford had. Why we were going backwards and not forwards I'll never know

Bingo88 profile image
Bingo88 in reply toValentina98

They are the world's worst for going backwards. Hope your keeping well. Brian

Hello :-)

If you have got a valid point or not because you come across as someone that wants everyone to stick by the guidelines on this Community as you often do what you are doing getting involved with negative comments on posts you feel should not have been posted if you feel that way when you see them I just wondered if you have read the updated BHF guidelines that are pinned to the right side

This one they have asked us to do is something you do so often and ignore this guideline and as the saying goes practice what you preach so why not follow this guideline , lead by example and let HU decide if this post is appropriate or not it would be really appreciated if you would

Reporting

Please use the reporting feature for any posts that you feel do not fit within these guidelines

***Please do not make this information public or try to police the community within the comments of a post.***

BeKind28- profile image
BeKind28-

Simple

Because I feel the post is appropriate and leaving it to HU to decide as in the guidelines

You no doubt will have reported it but you still drop short of been asked not to police the Community within a post

Leave it at that now enough said you have had your point of view and I have had mine I am sure we both have better things to do than carry this on well I know I have

Have a lovely day

Keep calm just a game of football and it is Eng 😎- what do you expect?

I think Eng will get find out in the next game. The end-result and win yesterday has glossed over the performences so far.

Of course the kind person, not the sarcastic rude one who prefers to raise peoples BP!

Seriously we will all be losers if the forum is 'policed' by judgmentals who spoil the forum for someone like me. Michaels post was relevant, topical, humourous and raised a good point which led to a lighthearted interesting heart related discussion. Admin/mod views welcomed.

Yes being Scottish. Never fails to surprise me how quickly our “Badge of Pride” becomes “Our Cross to Bear”. I know a few who were over for the games. Everything about it was brilliant………..apart from the football! 🤣🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽️

I gave up watching in real time some years ago. Around 40 years of watching such stuff (with only a few exceptions) is far too long.
