Found I had a heart murmur from an incidental finding.
Eventually diagnosed with Aortic stenosis which became severe and whilst largely asymptomatic have had 2 instances where an ambulance was called.
Over an 7 week period have seen 3 different cardiologists all of whom have said I am young enough at 69 to have surgery notwithstanding I was fixated on having the TAVI procedure it have listened to the experts and am due to have surgery on 8 July
I am taking the view of short term pain for long term gain having read so many helpful posts on this site
When you are told you have a 50% chance of not being here in 2 years as opposed to 10 years plus after surgery there is no decision to make
So bring it on. Yes of course I’m concerned about the procedure but I trust the professionals
Thanks for reading

I had 2 x PCI, CABG and AVR just over a year ago. Bovine valve, I feel great and started, as part of my recovery, doing parkrun weekly. That was at 3 months post op, I’m still doing them and find they help me with maintaining my energy levels and weight.
I was told the valve should last up to 20 years which would be good, I was 70 when I had the surgery. I’m back to a normal life albeit with a little care lifting heavy items still. At my last check, at about 10 months post surgery I was told they don’t want to see me again for two years such is the progress I’ve made.
