Revitive with a mechanical valve

hi all. I have had considerable OHS and now my mitral valve is mechanical. However, I also have AF and PAD and my lower legs and ankles do get quiet swollen despite the diuretics I take daily. I know a few people with a Revitive machine that do get a lot of relief from it but none have the health issues I have. I know they’re not recommended for people with a pacemaker but does anyone out there with a mechanical value have one? I would ask my cardiologist but don’t have an appointment until next year and of course, this warm weather makes it worse. Thanks all

Have you tried phoning your cardiologist department? Or the BHF nurses might be able to advise you.

that’s a thought. Yes, I’ve just noticed there’s an ‘ask BHF’ button on here. Thanks Rufus, I’ll give them a shout

discuss this with your GP, there are lots of different ways to try & improve your situation Claire & i would be talking to my GP about the options available to you individually......so your GP is best as a first call. i would also talk with your local cardiac rehab team who you should have been involved with after your OHS & release back to home for ongoing rehab & support.... (yes, im in the zipper club too, OHS 2018).

my local team were excellent & happy to provide ongoing advice /support.

hope things improve for you, & welcome to the Zipper Club 👍

I’ve had 5 OHS 2006, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2021 and so the cardiac team don’t really know what to do with me and now, I see no benefit in asking them. My lungs are badly damaged due to all of the surgeries and having them ‘unstuck’ from my rib cage a number times (yes, that is the downside of multiple surgeries) and so I can’t walk far. So, there are no options for me really and I get told to just ‘do what you can’. That’s fine. I’m ok with it. I just want an opinion on revitive that’s all and if anyone on here has one. However, I will definitely ask my cardiologist for an opinion the next time I speak to him. Thanks

Hi Claire, We've not spoken for a while, this is my latest account as I keep deleting them after a few months.

Sorry I can't help with the revitive question, so just replying to see how you're doing, but I see you have problems with your lungs now.

If you want to talk, please PM me.

Best wishes

Heed
