Hi all, haven't posted for a long time but read posts most days. Had a HA and 1 stent fitted 3 years ago and on the usual tablets no problem. In the last 2 weeks when I am about to nod off I feel as if I'm going to stop breathing and wake up and it's very scary, and try to sleep with more pillows sitting up,my cardiologist has given me Relvar Ellipta for asthma which I've never had in my life, and though it was working but is not. Anybody had this problem, any advice most welcome. Thank you.

Short of breath.
Hi
This is so horrible, I go through stages where I feel like that and I am sure it is my anxiety kicking in, sometimes I feel like I have stopped breathing just before dropping off to sleep, really weird feelings. I am not a doctor so can't tell you what yours is but I just try and relax and breath normally and think about something else and it generally stops the feeling.
All the best
Thanks for the reply, have you been told what the cause is?I will try thinking about something else and see what happens,I know we are all different.
If your cardiologist suspects you have may have a condition asthma like, in my view you should go back to your GP and discuss it with him/her with the objective of a consultation with an asthma nurse or similar who has the training in respiratory conditions, and will be able to properly assess you, to establish whether you do have a condition like asthma or COPD or whether it is something else.
I'm 6 years post HA and stents and get very breathless. I've had spirometry test s which were perfect. No answers I'm afraid. Can't blame it on meds as I only take aspirin and a statin. GP has referred me back to cardio because 6 yrs ago they found 2 more blockages, not quite bad enough to stent and I'm worried they may have got worse but the waiting time is almost 12 months. All I can say is pester your doctor.
