sleeping position after mid LAD stent

Ladylovesmilktray profile image

This is probably a silly question, but should we be sleeping on our backs only after having a stent in our LAD? I prefer sleeping on my sides but read somewhere that side sleeping puts pressures on the heart and is not recommended.

The heart works the hardest while lying absolutely flat on your back but even this is not a problem if your heart muscle function is normal. People with a weak left ventricle are best off sleeping with their chest higher than their abdomen.

hi I have read before sleeping on left is not the best position.

I found link below appreciating not for stents if any help which for arrhythmias left side doesn’t sound like the best position. So logically right side might be better.

Some things I’ve read elsewhere sleeping on back is good but with back / upper body elevated - use pillows or put something under the head of your bed to raise it.

But I’ve never found anything truly scientific to support.

Thank you.

I had to sleep on my right hand side after having my LAD stent for a couole of months as sleeping on my left caused discomfort and some pain in my chest.

Even though its done through keyhole aurgery its still invasive as the wire has been rooting about in your heart and arteries which will inevitably cause some bruising especially if youre on blood thinners. It eill get better though and you should be able to sleep in any position after a few weeks.
