I am a senior senior and suffer from a mistral valve condition. I had a pacemaker fitted about 3 years ago.I would like to vary the way I sleep;is there any downside to sleeping on my left side ?

Good question. I have a fib and many say they have more a fib sleeping on the left. That is not true for me. You might ask your doctor that question and let us know what you find out. Im curious what you mean by a senior senior? Im 67, wondering if I can call myself a junior senior?😉. I like the sound of that.
“None whatsoever”, says my hubby who is also a senior, and with a pacemaker in situ for about 7 years now. I, too, have a mitral valve problem and sleep on my left side quite happily!
I have the same, but get massive heart palpitations only at night whether I sleep on my left or right it doesn't matter, I have had them over 4 yrs now....by the way my consultant says that MR shouldn't cause these kind of palps....but thats another can of worms !
Had a pacemaker for 12 years. Sleeping on left side is my norm. I soon got used to the pm “sneaking up” when I curl up and settle down to sleep. That’s the only downside as far as I am concerned. Good luck. Sleep well.
Hi Eadaoin. I've got an ICD and have the same problem with it standing up when I curl up. I have to pat it down every time I turn over. xx
Thanks everyone,I am reassured. Incidentally, at 94 I class myself as a 'senior senior' !
