Hi

I am thinking of getting a fitness watch for when I am at work only becuase I want to see if i can figure out is going on when i start to feel crappy when im at work. Ill wear it for a couple of weeks outside of work to get a baseline when im feeling ok and relaxed as well but not wear it otherwise as i dont want to get into checking it all the time or being harrassed by the pesky thing.

Any recommendations

Hi,

I've got a Samsung 6, I don't use it now for anything other then measuring distance walked.

The blood pressure monitor which you have to calibrate with a proper blood pressure monitor is actually really decent.

The heart rate monitor is a bit hit and miss in my experience with it.

The 02 sensor when I compare it to my oximeter is also pretty decent.

I've heard people talk about garmen watches as being really good but then again I've seen YouTube videos where cheap fitness trackers are just as good.

Have a search on YouTube, I found it a pretty decent place to see loads of reviews on expensive to cheaper fitness trackers/ watches.

Personally ( and I did a post on it) I'm not convinced with then as being great sources of accurate measurements but since you wany to measure a baseline vs times when you feel like you're having odd symptoms it they may work.

Do you have a blood pressure monitor? I’d start with using that if you feel crappy, they usually have heart rate too. I found that when I felt rough it was my blood pressure that dropped from 115/75 to 100/60. Heart rate was always pretty good 50-60s. However , we don’t know what your condition relates to .

I do have one but its not really practical to use it in my job without ruining it as I literally get covered in oil, diesel and coolant working on train engines.

I’d really suggest using it if you feel crappy , will you really ruin it ?

Obviously it’s a matter for you and how crappy you’re feeling , but I know the heart rate isn’t the sole measurement if we have a turn. I’ve had a most of this year trying to work out what was going on with my “zombie” episodes , horrible periods of feeling crappy. Now on my 3rd statin as a result and it’s working and agreeable 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🤣

I wouldnt want to get it covered in oil and grease as when i wanted to use it at home id get crap off it on me from the dirty cuff.

Plus i cant always just drop what im doing to walk what can be 1/4 mike back to the wash rooms to spend 10 minutes wahing up to take a reading.

I need aomwthing thats going to be monitoring me on the job.

Im sure ive seen someone say there is one that can do BP but if you calibrate it against a cuff based one.

I’m not promoting, but sharing. My Apple Watch alerted me to low heart rate over a couple of days. It was dipping to bradycardia of 30. I was asymptomatic. I took ECGs off the watch and shared them with the cardiologist on consultation. I self presented to ED when GP trashed my bigeminy. By which time I was feeling dreadful.

Please listen to your body and respond to deterioration. Good luck with your search
