Ectopic beats - losartan

Hi, I have put a couple of posts up on here recently about the onset of ectopic beats over the past few months. Many thanks again for everyone who had replied, really appreciated.Having given things more thought i have gone back to basics with the question of what's changed and the only thing I can come up with really is my Losartan going up from 50mg to 100mg. My Cardiologist thought that this should not cause a problem but having done a bit more googling (which is not always a good thing) an irregular heart beat had been reported as has nervousness and jitters.

I also checked how soon it kicks in and the half life which all seem to tie in with my symptoms.

Anyway I pushed my Losartan tablets back to the end of the day so I am not taking it with Amlodipine or Bisoprolol. I have only taken 1/2 tablet or 50 mg for the last two days and guess what. Nervousness almost disappeared as have ectopics. Maybe it's a pseudo effect but I don't think so.

Obviously I need to address the right meds for keeping my blood pressure in check but I can now engage with Cardiologist / GP with something more tangible. One explanation could be that the increase from 50mg to 100mg has scrambled my electrolytes, another one of course is that I am in the minority of Losartan just not being for me

Good news. That med was doubled which must have an effect-good or bad. As you say you need to ensure that any other meds needed instead are prescribed. Or perhaps the same effect can be achieved by lifestyle/diet changes
