I have Aortic Stenisis that is now severe. I get very tired a lot of the time, almost to the point that I feel like I’ve been drugged. Has anyone else got this. Also I would like to hear if anyone who has had TAVI and their experience. Thank you.

Aortic Stenosis
I had severe aortic stenosis and the main symptom for me was tiredness. I felt completely disengaged and had to sleep for one or two hours in the afternoon. I am a bit younger than you (67 now) and I had OHS about a year ago. I still need about 9 hours sleep a night, but my daytime energy levels are much better.
Hi had a mechanical aortic valve replacement in 2005, from hardly being able to walk I was back to being able to do almost anything I wanted.
I had severe AS, diagnosed in 2021 when I was seeing stars when trying to run. Turns our that I had an undiagnosed congenital heart defect that I was blissfully unaware of. I was tired, but not worryingly so and get asking if they'd got my diagnosis wrong. Obviously they hadn't and they told me to take it easy until surgery. I had OHS 6 months later and I'm doing well now, but recovery wasn't as immediate as I'd hoped There are Facebook groups aimed at Aortic issues and Heart Defects and I believe some in the one that I joined who had TAVI if you don't get the answers that you need here. Several in their 70s too, who had OHS.
Best wishes

😊
I was sleeping 22hours a day at the final preop stage. A key to the severity was when I started to fall forwards.
Waiting is the worst bit, so you will soon be in the happier stages once you get to the fabulous cardiac department of the hospital.

Hi I had aortic valve replaced by TAVI last year at the age of 76 Great way to have it done so go for it I had Edwards Inspura valve with should last 20 to 25 years but xan also be replaced by another TAVI if needed I was in hospital for 2 days then slow recovery at home It took longer than I thought to recover my strength and energy. I was told that some people feel wonderful in 6 weeks but others take a lot longer. Compared with OHS though it's a no brainer which to have.
I had aortic stenosis diagnosed years ago but it wasn't bad at the time so just monitored. I kind of expected it as both my parents had it and ended up with open heart surgery to correct it. Last year I started having trouble breathing, couldn't walk more than about 20 feet without having to stop and rest, tired all the time and falling asleep without even noticing it. My feet started swelling as well. I had pulmonary edema once before years go so went to the ER. Yup, aortic stenosis had gotten very severe.
Problem was that I had also been on Ramipril for some months and had almost the same symptoms which alleviated when I quit it, well at least for a couple of months so the reaction to the med was also masking my heart condition.
I had a TAVR in January. It took about 1 hour and 10 minutes. I was awake and alert shortly after and on my feet that night but kept in the hospital until the next day when I was discharged home. I had someone stay with me that day in case I had any complications like bleeding from the catheter site or the valve going bad but was just fine. No bleeding, swelling (unusual, most do have some), nor any pain. No shortness of breath anymore, I felt better than I had in years. Went through cardiac rehab with no problems at all and now back to swimming several times a week, walking and some other exercises. Just saw the cardiologist again this week and given an all clear to go back to everything normally.
