It is unlikely that anyone on here can adequately answer your question without knowing your full medical history and your personal circumstances. The health professionals who are dealing with your case, e.g your cardiologist team, are the people who will best be able to help you. However the BHF Heart Helpline nurse may be able to help since you will be able to expand and share your circumstances in outline over the phone.

I'm surprised that you haven't been told what the situation is by your medical team - or doyou have an appointment with them soon? As with the previous poster, I hesitate to say much more, save that I imagine your condition will be monitored.

I have mitral valve regurgitation which has mostly been graded moderate for at least 12 years. It’s not an exact science so I did once get moderate/severe , but it now appears to be improving. I just get an echo every year and don’t have any symptoms. If it gets to severe and you have symptoms like breathlessness, they might start thinking about surgery (repair or replacement). So please don’t worry but do make sure you get repeat echos.

The only time mine has been a problem is when I’ve needed other surgeries - the anaesthetist will want to check you’re ok.

If you're referring to aortic stenosis, a critical metric is the mean valve gradient ( the measurement of pressure in the left ventricle & left atrium as blood crosses the valve). When one has a mean gradient of 40 it's considered critical or severe stenosis where replacement is commonly recommended.
