As Gas_chops said, potentially yes.If the reason for the drop in EF can be identified then a plan can be put in place for treatment.

This could be a mixture of lifestyle changes, prescribed meds or a medical procedure.

Yes, it's definitely possible. Mine improved from low to mid 30s to 50+. Combination of medication and lifestyle choices. I had few symptoms and thought I was well before diagnosis. In hindsight I did have a few minor symptoms, I just didn't realise they were serious or related, the main one was a persistent irritating cough. My low EF resulted from cardiomyopathy / heart failure, but the cause of this has not been found.

Mine improved from 17 to 43% over 2 years and I was then discharged from the HF clinic to GP care. It has stayed at 43% for last 2yrs. I follow the HF diet plan and have 2 dogs who need a couple of long walks a day.

Thanks for that, Fiona - has helped re-assure and encourage my wife. Her echo couple months ago showed EF <15%, immediately flagged up by Echo person, seen by Consultant within 3 days and since under the lovely care of Karen, Heart Failure Nurse. Great team at Southmead, Bristol! Karen ramped up and now refining wife's medications. Wife stopped the wine and started sticking to good diet which was a major step for her after 2 years of neglect. So, hopefully, able to continue and ramp up the dog walking :) Hope things still looking good for you. Your doggy looks a little like Buddy from the thumbnail pic by your name. Again, Thanks and Cheers, Paul.

I should have said BHF diet for heart failure. You can download the HF book from the BHF website if you are interested. It gives a food guide as well.

Hope this helps. Fiona

Yup I let my health slip and didn't realise all the snoring was signs of sleep apnoea and my heart was being starved of oxygendue to wide neck and the extra fat on it... Maybe only 12/13% EF now 65% plus after drugs and walking exercise...
