Non Diabetic Hypoglycemia!

So the ongoing itching has driven me crazy, and took matters into my own hands as fed up of GP, Consultants and Cardio Teams all saying talk to someone else.

I demanded blood tests to check if underlying condition maybe causing the itching ( even though still 90% convinced it's meds- Dapagliflozin is my prime suspect!) ...so all normal bar one test...today gets told I have non diabetic hypoglycemia 😭

Anyone else have this? My cousin ( one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet) died at age 29 several Christmases ago, as he went into a diabetic coma and lived alone, and wasn't found til it was too late! So now scared the crap out of me! 😱

I have antihistamines, they help a little bit, but I really want prevention rather than cure tbh

If it’s non diabetic hypoglycaemia I don’t know what that is. Hopefully someone will come along who knows that.

Non diabetic hyperglycaemia is pre diabetes/borderline. You just have to avoid sugars, anything with too much sugars. Even fruits have sugars, so where they say 5 a day have 3 veg and 2 fruits and only eat one if they’re very sweet. Just eat a healthy diet avoid too much carbs. Go on the diabetic website.

I use to itch then I was told I was borderline diabetic, non diabetic hyperglycaemia. I cut out certain things with sugar and the itching stopped.

Hello

Do you mean hypoglycaemia or hyperglycaemia?

Hypoglycaemia means low blood glucose levels,

Hyperglycaemia means high blood glucose levels.

A blood test called HbA1c is used and can help identify people who have pre diabetes and diabetes.

I have my HbA1c levels checked regularly as I am at higher risk of developing diabetes, my father was diabetic and I was borderline for gestational diabetes during my pregnancies.

I am careful to avoid sugar in my diet and exercise to keep my HbA1c levels below the prediabetes threshold.

Diabetes UK has some further information that you may find helpful.
