Stabbing pain in non-donor thigh after bypass

Hello, I had an off-pump quintuple bypass 20 days ago and am now recuperating at home. I'm aged 58 and Type 1 diabetic for 35 yrs.

At the angiogram, after initially recommending stents, they then recommended the bypass though i only had mild angina-type symptoms (no heart attack or high blood pressure) due to narrowing of main artery.

After surgery, the front of my left (non-donor leg) thigh was numb. Now, a few times a day, often wheni stretch or move tge muscle after inactivity, i get a pain like someone stabbing me in the thigh. It lasts a couple of seconds and is severe. No soreness remains when the pain has stopped. Thigh is still a bit numb but less so than before.

I don't know what can be causing this. Could it be due to 80mg Atorvastatin? I'm worried it is a clot but can't face any more hospital investigations right now (and I'm in a local lockdown area).

Any thoughts or info on similar experience would be welcome.

Thanks

Caroline

Is your ankle/lower leg swollen?

No, why?

If you have a clot (deep vein thrombosis) in your leg it is often indicated by comparing your legs. If one is more swollen that the other it is time to visit casualty for a look. Doesn't take long to sort out. However it may just be that as you start to move and exercise your body is creaking and groaning a bit. Give the hospital that did your bypass a ring and ask about the rehab process which should be starting after 8 weeks or so, and you can mention this at the same time. The first 3 weeks are the worst, after that you should be able to slowly but surely get moving. One lamp post at a time, etc.

No swelling in leg.

While they had you laid on the hard bed or while they were moving you, you could have trapped a nerve in your spine. IF I stand in a certain way my thigh can become totally numb. I would first go to my GP and then to a gentle osteopath who could assess it without doing manipulation.
