Welcome to HealthUnlocked, our heart health community, a supportive space for individuals affected by heart disease to find information and assistance. Our team is here to help, but please remember to consult your doctor or specialist for specific health concerns. In a life-threatening emergency, call 999 or check if you need urgent medical helping by calling NHS Direct at 111. For a chat with a cardiac nurse, contact our Heart Helpline at 0808 802 1234, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Learn more at: bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo....

When participating in the community, please adhere strictly to the following guidelines:

Inappropriate Content

We do not tolerate posting material that is indecent, discriminatory, defamatory, harmful, threatening, or abusive towards fellow community members. Users engaging in such behaviour may face account restrictions.

Medical Advice

We do not recommend discontinuing medication without consulting a healthcare professional, and we ask you not to offer medical advice to other members of the community. Admins may issue warnings to users persistently offering medical opinions, and continued violations may lead to community restrictions.

Extreme Lifestyle Recommendations

Refrain from suggesting extreme lifestyle changes to other community members.

Covid-19 Discussions

Sharing experiences related to Covid-19 and its impact on heart health is encouraged. However, we’re mindful that platforms like this can sometimes be used to make unsubstantiated claims about medicines, which we will moderate if we feel are misleading. Our latest interpretation of the evidence on COVID-19 and heart health is available here bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo.... We are committed to posting evidence-based information and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all members.

Anonymity

Avoid disclosing real names of any treating doctors or nurses, specific hospital teams, or personal details of others within or outside the community.

Email Addresses

Refrain from posting private email addresses in the community. Utilise the Private Message function for secure one-to-one communication.

Self-Promotion and Advertising

Do not engage in self-publicity, spamming, advertising, or soliciting. Discussion of heart-related fundraising and events is allowed with relevant links.

Third-Party Content

Do not post third-party surveys, polls, or material that infringes legal rights, such as copyright or proprietary rights.

Reporting

Please use the reporting feature for any posts that you feel do not fit within these guidelines. Please do not make this information public or try to police the community within the comments of a post. All reports will be seen to and assessed by the moderation team.

Off-topic Discussions

We understand that sometimes, as a community, you may want to discuss topics that are not related to heart health. If you do feel like doing this, please use the comments of the Monthly Social Check-in. This way we can make sure people who are looking for support, receive it the best way they can.

Political Opinions

We kindly ask all members to avoid discussing political topics or making political statements within the community. Politics can be a highly divisive subject, and our goal is to maintain a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone. By steering clear of political discussions, we ensure that the community remains a safe space dedicated to heart health and mutual support.

Community Tips

Privacy Settings

Set your post to private to limit visibility outside the community. Note that Google searches may still pick up posts, but the full content will remain private.

Community Topics

Assign relevant topics to your posts. Tag your post as 'Ask the BHF' for a quicker response from our admin or nurse.

Post Titles

Give your post a clear title to indicate its subject. This increases the likelihood of receiving responses, especially if seeking input from other members.

HealthUnlocked Roles and Responsibilities

Administrator – Responsible for moderation on the platform.

Partner – Responsible for overseeing the platform & posting social check-in.

BHF Nurse – Responsible for clinical review of medical information on posts.

We aim to maintain a welcoming and supportive community. If you have questions or suggestions for improvement, please share them with us! Your feedback is valuable.
