If you feel your BP is now under control then as and when you want to is my response. I have been taking BP meds for over 20 years and rarely take a reading. But your GP should be arranging for a test from time to time, say on an annual basis.
I’d say it was between you and your doc. Presumably you are reviewed annually. I am, and was asked to take my pressure monthly but only send it to surgery if I was concerned it was too low or high.
Of course you can take it monthly if you think it's stable. If your GP wants to check, he will probably ask you to take it 3 times a day for a week and then work out the average. I took it regularly after a heart attack but now I rarely bother. I do a fulkl week of checks every 6 months or so.
Buy a BP machine - they are quite accurate - I only measure mine out of almost curiosity now (I am week 16 OHS MVR) albeit still on b-blockers 2.5mg per day
Also my GP said to take at least 2 (or even 3) measurements within 5 mins for an average reading
