how soon can you fly after having stent fitted , and is it not advisable to fly long haul . Also can anyone recommend a travel insurance company that doesn’t charge a fortune, but still covers for this ? Thanks

Hi,
I had an Nstemi and a stent fitted Feb 22 and flew to Mexico in June the next year. Used Staysure. I thought it was expensive at about £800 for a years cover but if I had gone to Europe it was about £65. Had a great holiday and it was worth the money!
about flying, I think you need to take advice from your cardio nurse, though if you don’t have one give the BHF nurses a call.
As far as insurance goes, this question gets asked constantly. The medical screening treats you as an individual so what suits me might not suit you, as far as pricing goes. There is an article about this on the BHF website, well worth reading. Many travel insurers limit by age so if you are above their individual level, ignore those!
An insurance broker would help, or you can do your own research. Once you get used to filling in medical screening questionnaires it can be done quite quickly. Best of luck!
As Happyrosie says, best to consult the team that did your op and is, hopefully, monitoring your recovery - which may be different to someone else's. (Having read cautionary advice on various websites about post-TAVI I was surprised to be encouraged to walk around the hospital the next day. And also surprised when, three weeks later, my surgeon said it was OK for me to mow my lawns.
