flying with stent

flying to turkey on Saturday . I know it might sound a daft question to ask , but will my stent set off any alarms . Do I need to declare it before I step through the scanner ? First time flying since stent was inserted in January so slightly anxious about it .

As far as I know my stent has never triggered the metal detector part of the scan but I have occasionally been asked to provide hand swabs.

My wife has three large pins/screws in the head of her femur and that does regularly trigger the metal detector and she will then have the hand wand passed over her. Oddly enough the cause is often attributed to jewellery rather than pinpointing it as three big pointy bits of metal!

Nothing to worry about I have two stents and used to work at the airport and went through security check several times a day.

I had my stent fitted on 2014, have flown and passed through airport security, many times since then. Never had a reaction to the stent. So, relax and enjoy your holiday!

It's the last thing you should be worried about 😆I was worried about the wires in my chest after the cabg but that didn't set the alarms off either

Remember to always have your seatbelt on while seated

if a wedding ring does not set off a scan then a stent won't, but you can mention it to the staff on duty before you go through if you are conderned
