Coming off Ticagrelor

I had a heart attack and 3 stents fitted exactly one year ago. My dr told me to stop Ticagrelor which I did two days ago. I have stomach pains and would like to know if this is usual or maybe just a tummy bug. ?

No side effects for me when I stopped after a year.

I had no problems stopping Ticagrelor after 12 months. Another chat with your GP and a check-up might be a good idea, 4cokecansBHF, in order to prevent any potential setbacks to your continuing recovery.

Wishing you well. 🙂

good morning. I didn’t have any adverse effects when I stopped taking it after 12 months. Fingers crossed that it’s a bug that’ll be on its way off soon!

could it be you caught a stomach bug?

Thanks for answering. It’s the third day now and comes and goes. Eating seems to trigger it. Just keep hoping it will go as my body gets used to lack of Tricagrelor. I’m take 15 pills daily so pleased to get rid of one!

It's normal to stop ticagrelor 12 months after a heart attack. I had no problems at all. That was 5 years ago. I have just had a nasty tummy bug that caused sharp pains and lots of gurgling so maybe it's something going round.

Hello. Sorry to hear your having stomach issues now coming of this drug. I have also had stomach issues with this drug. I had to stop this drug 5 days before having my pacemaker fitted. On restarting a few days later I have terrible upset tummy and everything I eat just comes straight out terrible diarrhea. Sorry to sound a bit gross but that's the only way I can describe the tummy issues with this drug. I have also read that this medication can cause tummy issues and I guess this could be both coming of the drug, starting the drug or restarting the drug. I am no medical person but there may be some issues with this medication that might need to be discussed with the medical professional. Hope you feel better soon.
