Hi I've been having palpitations and rapid heart rate on waking up for 3 months now. I'm sure it's down to medication but GP not convinced. I have had Anxiety but it happens without Anxiety too. I've had numerous ecgs chest x-ray and I'm currently waiting for 48 hour ECG I just wish I knew what was going on.

I have experienced the same. What medications do you take and how long have you been on them?

So you didn't experience any palps or fast heart rate before starting meds?

No none at all but I was wound up because they said I had high cholesterol and high blood pressure it made me anxious so now they blame everything on that. My cholesterol is now good hence why it's getting reduced and blood pressure fine but still getting symptoms so now waiting for 48 hour ECG I'm having to wait 7 weeks for that so 2 to go then if I need scan another 8 weeks

Well it's good that you are having all the appropriate checks and so far all good. I know only too well about the anxiety label! Once on your medical record it seems to be the 'go to' answer from the GP's. How fast is your heart rate in the morning and how long does it take for it to settle back down?

Have you been offered a beta blocker?

I've had a beta blocker and I didn't like them. My heart rate can be around 120 but settles in around a few minutes. It usually is when I first wake up. Yeah anxiety sucks, it consumes you to the point of ridiculous but that's pretty much settled now. Thanks for responding to me, I appreciate it.

It's good that it settles quickly. It would be interesting to know how you get on with further testing if you dont mind posting updates..

I wish you all the best

Hi I'm so sorry you've endured this for so long. I hope I get some answers too. At least a reason for it helps your mind, not knowing is worrying and makes you over think every scenario it could be which gets you down so I understand how hard it is. Keep trying, you may get an answer eventually. Take care and let me know if you do.
