I am just home from a keyhole procedure to close a 1cm ASD hole in my heart. I wanted to reassure anyone who is facing this that it’s an amazingly smooth process, the technology and the medics are so brilliant. I had my treatment at Oxford. Came home only groggy and very slightly sore at the groin entry point, nothing paracetamol can’t help with. Looking forward to seeing what the effects are on my ability to exercise and general health. Feel very lucky to have been able to read patient experience on the BHF forum, made all difference in the lead up for those middle of the night moments 😊

Very good to hear that it all went so smoothly, and interesting to hear your experience of Keyhole surgery. Sounds like your recovery should be much quicker?
Yes and thank you! So much quicker than OHS. Maybe a week or two to get back to normal and looking forward to short walks in a few days. I am sure it depends from person to person.
thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am currently waiting for the same procedure. I have a 3cm ASD. I am hoping I will feel much better after the procedure and be able to go upstairs without being out of breath! Please keep updating how you are getting on.
