ectopic heartbeat

I have suffered episodes for a few years now. They have probably continued without me really noticing. Since just after Christmas 2023, I have had some prolonged episodes. I’ve had the 24hr monitor and blood tests recently, but am having to wait two weeks to speak to a doctor. My heart rate yesterday fell to 47bpm whilst at work. Can anyone give some advice?

Hello Just on here at this time because I am also just going to ask a question. Do your ectopics come in Bi gemini and Tri gemini which means an Ectopic every 2nd or every 3rd beat. It's relatively easy to establish,. What medication are you on ? as that can make a huge difference to your heart rate. Not much help I know but it's difficult without someones history. Sounds as though you are on the tread mill so that's good, wishing you well.

Thanks for your reply... If I remember correctly I was Bi gemini. Ah, medication! Not on any for this yet, but have been on statins for a number of years. I have not long started on Allopurinol. Could that affect things? Hopefully when I speak to the GP on Monday, I will get some answers, although I'm not confident. Had blood test and 24hr monitor at the end of January! Suggests to me they have not found anything.

Can I suggest you write down any questions you have as otherwise it is easy to forget them when in front of the GP!

I am on no medication for anything and no health issues but I had ectopics. Had 24 holter echo blood tests which showed 5% ectopics, ankle brachiol tests you name it. My heart rate went low when I experienced them. I had musculoskeletal issues though and my body was pulled out of alignment with osteoarthritis . Had a hip replacement and the ectopics stopped! Have you ever thought like I did that something structural might be irritating your heart? My vagus nerve was affected too as I had them when I ate and drank particulary breakfast. All gone! I did find that if I stretched my arms up like you do when waking up that the heart rate went back to normal! Try it.

Ectopic sufferer here, ive had 2 years of heart tests all clear, i was telling them it felt like it was coming from my stomach (i have a sliding HH and suffer with GERD) fast forward and im now under a gastro Dr, tested positive for SIBO, not all ectopic beats are caused by the heart, it can be elsewhere the vagus nerve. Look up gastric cardiac, roemheld syndrome sanjay guptar on YT, not saying yours is this but keep an open mind if your tests come back all clear.

Thanks for your advice. 👍I will mention about stomach issues when I speak with the GP. I do parkrun and train in midweek and cross country. I actually feel better when exercising!
