To be quite honest I think these videos are the worst thing to watch. Almost medieval. I'm aware that many would disagree with me .

I've had 26 electrical cardioversions so am

what you might call experienced with the procedure. Do not get alarmed. I agree that the whole idea sounds quite frightening but it truly isn't. You will be well sedated so completely unaware . Its all over in minutes. Really nothing to worry about. I had my last one 2 weeks ago.

Best wishes

J

Hi Jalia, how are you getting on with your health? I'm revisiting my posts and would like to update my condition. Had an appointment with a Mitral valve specialist in London and had all the tests in his recommended private clinic. Mi mitral valve has a mild stenosis and i can live with that well, no need replacement. At Fib is bad and i am considering Ablation. It will prevent having Cardioversions. Ablation has 80% success, fingers crossed i will be fine.

warm regards,

hi I was on amiodarone for 2.5 years and it got my af under control but I had to stop it a few months ago as it gave me a over active thyroid and I lost a lot of weight now it’s gone to other way and it’s hugely under active and I’m put on lots of weight. And I couldn’t go out in in sun. I went on a high does to start with then back to one. I hope you don’t get any side affects x

hi, i am revisiting this posts as i have make some progress with private consultants. I will not have Amiodarone. That is ok for people over 80 but not at 60+

i used a couple of times for a short period and is not advisable for the side effects. Like you thyroid problem. Medications are good at something and bad with other. I will try to be medication free.

the reason why i had Amiodarone prescribed the first time was because I had a very bad flutter and they could not do a cardioversion when is in that state. first they have to stop the flutter and there is an specific way to take Amiodarone. 3 x day for one week, then 2 x day for one week, then 1 a day. Then Cardioversion. In my case it stopped on day 3.

hope you are better now.

As Jalia said, there's nothing to worry about. Before the procedure you sign a consent form, and they'll list all the things that can go wrong, but it's just something they are legally obliged to do.

It's straightforward, you won't feel a thing, and it's surprising how well you'll feel afterwards.
