Hello out there - my story,I had with out warning heart attack+cardiac arrest back in April 2023 at home ,it was a Stemi heart attack with my LAD blocked. I was in a intensive care /coma for over a week before coming round ,they were unable to unblock the artery in this time ,some damage to my heart muscle. On full medication from day one and in October I had ICD fitted .Just a rollercoaster of a year , emotionally and mentally still ongoing I did survive and have made some adjustments to my life style and working life balance . Massive reflection on how I see my life alongside my beautiful family.
I have fought these forum posts a very good source of information.

I am sorry to hear what you went through and I had 3 heart attacks but it damaged some of my heart to which even though I had a triple Bypass the damaged part will stay the same
I am glad you have been able to make the changes you know needed to be made
Emotionally and mentally I do relate this can take longer and if you feel like you need help as you are struggling never hesitate in talking to your Doctor about it
I am pleased you find the Community a help it is good to talk with others that know what it feels like and what you are going through
Let us know how your recovery keeps going and family is precious and it certainly does make us realise what we have got x
Hi there, I’m sorry to hear what you went through, it must have been such a shock.
I had a Stemi in April 2022, although they were able to stent my LAD. I ended up with heart failure too which was a terrible shock, but the medications have really helped my heart function to improve over time. There were two things that really helped me and that was cardiac rehabilitation which hopefully you have been offered too, and the Pumping Marvellous charity. PM is a patient led charity for those living with heart failure and they have some really good literature on their website, which explains the condition and treatments in a plain and simple way, plus a Facebook support group as well which I highly recommend.
You are still relatively early days in your diagnosis and many people struggle with the emotional side of things, I know I certainly still do but it will eventually get easier. I am not ashamed to say I had counselling for a while.
Hi I too had a Stemi Feb 2022 same as you the damage that was caused to my heart will never get any better, I’m still here still have my family around me, I have made changes but the hardest I found was dealing with the mental and emotional side.
I keep telling myself even now I am one of the lucky ones !
