I just wanted to give an update on yesterdays ablation at Papworth hospital. I was amazed at the facility, and lovely staff. The whole procedure took 3 hours with mapping and I had to lay flat for 2 hours after then sit for 30mins. I was allowed to leave 6 hours after the start of the procedure , even with a GA.
Felt absolutely fine and amazingly no bruising on the leg they entered into and no AF incidents so far but I will remain on the current meds until I see the EP in 12 weeks.
Advised to take it easy for a couple of days and no lifting or strenuous excersise for a fortnight then the EP said back to normal.
I will have to wait and see if it has worked for me although the EP said all went very well . I hope this gives some positive incentives to anyone thinking of ,or going for an ablation in the future.

You have to have a GA for the pulse field method . That did worry me as you hear of problems with sickness and brain fog after. Fortunately I had no after effects and they were happy for me to leave just 4 hours after the procedure finished.
Good luck with yours
The waiting is worse than the procedure and the nurses will put you at ease as soon as you get there.
I think sedation as it’s for SVT but to be honest I’m not too sure, the nurse during pre op wasn’t too sure either! Will have to wait until Monday and see 😂 don’t like the idea of either to be honest, but needs to be done! Glad to hear yours went well
The cardiologist said the waiting list is about 6 months. I’m going to Hammersmith hospital in London. Apparently the AFib list is a year! I’d very much like to hear about how yours goes if you don’t mind sharing. I’ve been wondering about the sedation. I was told it definitely wouldn’t be a general anaesthetic but am wondering if we get something to help us relax? Take care.
Thank you for sharing your story and I wish you a speedy recovery. I’m on the waiting list for an ablation for SVT so always good to hear other experiences.
Thank you Choccie55 and hope it goes well for you. These procedures have been done now for 20 years they said and have really become routine for them so I’m sure you will be in good hands.Hope it works for you 🤞and you have a speedy recovery.
