shoulder pain

hi everyone

It’s my first time posting on here, I had a stent fitted in September 2022 , cardiologist said there was an excellent result , however I carried on having mild symptoms ,I was given all the usual tests and apparently everything was normal . 2 weeks ago the final test was the cardio stress test which resulted in me being admitted to hospital, they performed invasive angiogram and more stents and balloons were fitted and diagnosed with NSTEMI and angina

Ever since the procedure on 25/01 I have had constant aching in my left shoulder which sometimes radiates down left arm

Is this normal

Hi Shelaghbella, are you still in hospital or have you been discharged? How did you feel after the stent was fitted in 2022? Is it similar to back then? After my stent was fitted I had some uncomfortable feelings in arms throat and chest, I rang my gp surgery and also the ward I had been discharged from to discuss it. Have you been told you will be getting cardiac rehabilitation or not? Hopefully someone else will also offer some words of advice or have had similar experiences.I had 2 stents fitted, one in June after NSTEMI and 2nd was called back for in July as didn't have time to do them together due to emergencies coming in and doctors being in strike. Ever since I've been having discomfort in upper arms, shoulders, chest throat and back. My gp said use gtn when I feel need to to see if angina or not as cardiac rehab been put on hold due to suspected angina. Still waiting to see cardiologist, been told to ask gp to refer me to different cardiologist by rehab team a couple of weeks ago as she's now gone away!

I would either maybe ring the ward you were on, the cardiac rehab team, gp or even the BHF helping on this same site. If gets severe ring 111. Hope things improve for you quickly 🤞 Take care and get well soon :-)

Hi

Thanks for your reply, I was discharged a week ago , symptoms are similar to prior to the stents, cardiac rehab have been in touch just waiting for an appointment . I am using the GTN spray but it’s difficult to determine when to use it and how often

Sometimes I feel that I am becoming paranoid about every strange feeling I have in my chest arms and shoulder but it’s hard not to as I’m sure you know

Likewise, I'm a little more laid back about some of the sensations, figuring out what to take gtn for and not. I find it works for right arm and shoulder and left tip of shoulder. Not for throat, but I also have acid reflux disease so some sensations are down to that and taking aspirin and bisoprolol. You can still ring cardiac rehab, I did and was told ask to see gp, to tell reception they said so. It gets easier, but am still learning too. Hopefully someone will see our posts and have some advice too 🤞:-)

I feel exactly the same . I’m 3 weeks post stent and occasionally get the odd twinge which I’m not sure is normal or not , I’m extra paranoid about it all . Have my first rehab appointment on the 21st Feb .good luck

I had 3 stents put in just over a year ago due to a heart attack. I honestly felt fine for 6 months. since then I have gradually been getting worse. Heart pain, left arm pain and chest and back pains. The worst is when I sit and watch tv at night. I have been trying to see a cardiologist for 6 months now, as I go from being able to walk 5 miles to just walk around the block.

I have been to A&E 3 times. Each time took 7 hours then just sent home. Now I find the cardio apptmt is just over the phone. They have beat me I'm giving up.

I really hope you get sorted out. Good luck.

How is the shoulder pain now. I hope you are improving...A hot water bottle cures mine but I have intercostal pain It will not shift. I changed my life after the heart attack. Followed all recommendations eating right, lost 3 stone (i'm a skeleton now). Exercised every day. went to rehab.. I can't do anything else myself. So i'm left chasing quack medicine while the system struggles to even give me an appointment. I'm 68 and never guessed for one second that the NHS would end up like this. The population explosion is like a tsunami.

Hi again

The past 2 days I have felt slightly better but still very tired and laid on my bed now and shoulder is aching . I too have never had any health issues until the symptoms started approx 3 years ago leading to my first stent in September 22 and then this NSTEMI during the stress test. I am 60 years old and am feeling very scared about my future especially as I have these days of feeling so bad . I know it’s early days but am struggling to get over the fear

Thank you for checking in with me and I do hope you are ok
