what the wait for catheter ablation.
Long wait: what the wait for catheter... - British Heart Fou...
Long wait
depends on your local hospital
I was listed for an Ablation for AF in June '23 and received the Ablation in October so 5 months for me.I had the operation under sedation and was told if I wanted a general anesthetic the wait would be longer. (Don't know how much longer).
I'm treated by the Manchester Heart Centre
I’ve been told 6 - 8 months (Bournemouth hospital). It will be with a general anaesthetic, I haven’t been offered anything else.
I waited 6 months.
I saw a cardiologist in London last week and he said 6 months for SVT ablation and a year for AFib.
Hi I had lots of helpful replies to the same question a couple of weeks ago which should still be searchable under catheter ablation. Lots of variation in the waiting times. I need an ablation for ventricular ectopics (lots and lots of them). I was listed on 20 October and now have a date in early April so 5 and a half months hospital doctor strikes permitting. Four to six months seems quite typical but some hearties had to wait a year. I understand that if you need a general anaesthetic the waiting list can be much longer. If it is really urgent they may bump you up the list. The best person to ask about waiting times will be one of the electrophysiologists as they will be doing the operation and control the list but unless you have an upcoming appointment hard to talk to. I would recommend that you speak to your electrophysiologist’s cardiac secretary for an idea of the wait. They have always been really kind and helpful when I have spoken to them. Be very nice but persistent . The real problem is not knowing which can be very stressful. Hope that you get a date soon best wishes
